Fireside conversations · on stage with your host

AI fireside chat.

Some programmes already have enough talks. A fireside conversation puts the argument on stage as a conversation instead: your chief executive, chair or host asks the questions their people want asked, and I answer them. It runs thirty to forty-five minutes, with a twenty-minute call beforehand to agree where it should go.

Rahim Hirji is available to speak on this subject, in person worldwide and online, for boards, executive teams, leadership offsites and conferences. He is a London-based keynote speaker specialising in AI and human judgement, and the author of SuperSkills (Kogan Page, 2026). He founded the skills platform EtonX, later acquired by Eton College, and led Quizlet’s international growth across more than 60 countries.

A feel for how I work with an audience before you put me in front of yours.

Why a fireside rather than a keynote

It lets a leader put the hard questions to someone in front of their own people, and be seen asking them.

It breaks up a day of slides.

It can follow where people want to go. Questions from the audience can come in at any point rather than only at the end.

Positioning the conversation

A fireside can be positioned to carry a message. If your host wants the audience to leave with one idea, about where the organisation is going with AI or what it now expects of its people, we build the conversation towards it.

It also leaves the audience free to come in. People ask their own questions and frame them in their own terms, which a keynote rarely allows. The host keeps the message; the audience gets the say.

What we cover

The argument of Drift versus Design and the human skills from SuperSkills, turned towards your organisation: which decisions AI is already making, which should stay with people, and what your people must stay able to do. The questions are agreed on the call, so your host is never surprised.

The three keynotes, and which one fits

Keynotes run 30 to 90 minutes, in person or virtual. A 30-minute main-stage version of each talk is available for conferences, and the full talk runs 45 to 60 minutes. The sector examples are chosen for each audience, around the same argument. All three, with the showreel, are at keynotes, and the programme copy is at the speaker pack.

Drift versus Design

Drift versus Design: why most organisations hand their judgement to AI without deciding to, and how to design your way through instead.

Most organisations are adopting AI by drift: a thousand reasonable decisions that add up to judgement nobody chose to give away. Rahim Hirji, author of SuperSkills, shows leaders which mode they are running, where AI sharpens judgement and where it weakens it, and hands them the controls.

We Are Superheroes

We Are Superheroes: AI is the suit. The human decides.

AI makes everyone faster, stronger and more capable. It does not decide; people do. Through a family story across four generations and three continents, Rahim Hirji hands the audience the seven human skills that grow more valuable as the tools spread. It is a talk about people first and technology second.

WTH (What the Human)

WTH (What the Human): a live test of a leadership team's own judgement.

Most leadership teams have never seen their own judgement on AI tested. In three acts, Rahim Hirji shows a leadership team what AI is changing in how organisations run, then ends with a live test of the team's own judgement, live and unrehearsed. The answers are the team's own.

Before you book

Questions organisers ask about a fireside conversation.

What is an AI fireside chat?

A conversation on stage about AI between Rahim Hirji and your chief executive, chair or host, in place of a keynote. Thirty to forty-five minutes, with the questions agreed on a call beforehand.

Who asks the questions?

Your host, usually, with questions from the audience. If you would rather have a moderator, that works too.

Can it happen at a dinner?

Yes. A fireside conversation works between courses or after dinner, as well as on a main stage.

Can the fireside carry a message from our leadership?

Yes. We agree the message on the call beforehand and build the conversation towards it, while leaving room for the audience to ask their own questions.

How much does it cost?

It is priced like a keynote. See what a keynote costs.
