A film about humans, made for a book about humans. It was published on 14 April 2026, before the book itself, and it tells three of the stories the argument rests on rather than describing the argument. The visual footage was made with generative tools alongside recorded footage of Rahim, and the end credits name every human collaborator and every tool that contributed.

So, do you want to tell us about SuperSkills?

Yeah, but it's not what you'd expect. Everyone thinks that SuperSkills is a book about AI. It is, but not in the way that you'd expect. It's about a mother in Minneapolis who forgave the man that killed her son. It's about the women in Sierra Leone who had to reinvent how they buried their dead during the Ebola crisis, because touching the body meant dying. And it's about my forefathers on a wooden boat making a bet on a country they'd never seen.

These are the hardest things a human being can do. And we've been calling them soft skills. There's nothing soft about them at all.

So yeah, this book is about AI, but it's the bit about AI that nobody's talking about, the human bit. Because even the organisations that have got an AI strategy, none of them have got a human strategy for the world of AI. And that's the bit that's actually going to matter.

I've spent twenty years in education and technology, built products that reached millions of people across six continents. And about three years ago, I watched an AI write a strategy deck in ninety seconds. Genuinely better than anything I could have done in a week. And I walked home that night thinking, what's left? What's actually left that's mine?

So I went looking. I spoke to people at over 200 organisations, from CEOs to students, across about 30 countries. I wanted to understand what the people who are thriving actually have. What is it about them? And what I found out is that there are seven skills. Not talents you're born with, not things you can fake. Disciplines. Things you have to build on purpose over time.

And honestly, if you're someone whose job feels like it could disappear tomorrow, or you're leading a team and you can feel that the old playbook isn't working anymore, or you're a parent lying awake at night wondering what your kids are going to need, or you're 23 and you've just walked into a workplace that already feels like it's being run by machines. I wrote this for you.

And what's the book called again?

It's called SuperSkills: The Seven Human Skills for the Age of AI.

And your name?

Well, you know my name. My name is Rahim Hirji.

One thing I can promise you is that this book is not a textbook.
